Reusing

Years ago I rescued a whole bunch of library books that were about to be thrown out. Some of them had been read only once or twice. I am now in the process of repairing a beautiful nightstand that someone found trashed.

How much can we actually reuse? How many brand new things do we really need? What value do we give to old things? What do old things mean to us?

Taking distance

Imagen en Flickr CC

Sometimes in order to see the whole picture, we need to take some steps back and look at it from afar.

Some students take a gap year in order to decide which road to follow after their secondary education stage, other people take a sabbatical because they need to rest, they need a change, or they need to reinvent their careers.

Here’s a speech by Stefan Sagmeister about the power of time off.

If you were to take a year off, what would you write on your to-do list? Where would you go? What would you like to achieve during that time?

Shorts

We tend to talk about movies but we rarely talk about short films. For me, they are on many occasions extremely more powerful than full-length or feature films. This is the trailer for A Story for the Modlins. Impressive and thought provoking.

Hopefully, they will upload it here shortly.
In the meantime, here's another jewel.

Any other suggestions?
